Recipe for pharmacists' tincture

Pharmacists' tincture is a popular liqueur based on lemons, milk and spirit. It has a golden color, is delicious and delicate. It is both sweet and sour at the same time. It can be drunk as early as two months after preparation.

  • 1 kg of lemons
  • 1 kg of sugar
  • 1 l of milk
  • 1 l spirit 95%

Peel scalded lemons, remove the white peel, cut into slices, remove the seeds. Put lemons and sugar into the jar. Slightly squeeze the fruits to let them juice. Pour milk and spirit and leave for 5 weeks in a cool place. Shake the jar every day. After five weeks, filter the liqueur, pour into bottles and let stand for a month. Coffee filters are good for filtering (it takes quite a long time). A second filtration may be necessary.

Young pharmacists' nalewka is very sweet, with time the sweetness disappears, it is best after 6 months of ageing. You can use less sugar (0.5 - 0.75 kg).
