Mojito

Mojito recipe

Mojito is a very popular, refreshing drink whose main ingredients are rum, mint leaves and lime. The discoverer of mojito is believed to be the 16th century buccaneer Francis Drake who used to drink tafia - alcohol made from sugar cane with the addition of lemon juice and mint. Mojito was also a favorite drink of Ernest Hemingway, who while staying in Havana, almost every day drank it in La Bodeguita del Medio bar. This bar still exists today and is a tourist attraction in the Cuban capital. To make a mojito, you will need:

  • 45 ml of white rum
  • juice of half a lime
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (preferably brown)
  • 2 sprigs of mint
  • sparkling water
  • ice

Pour sugar into a tall glass, pour lime juice and mint leaves, mix everything well, add rum, ice and top up with water, stir. The drink is very refreshing, perfect for hot days.
