Recipe for elderflower tincture

Elderberries have warming properties so it is worth preparing elderflower tincture, which will bring relief to autumn and winter colds. This tincture is delicately sourish with a golden color.

  • 50 elderflower umbels
  • 3 lemons
  • 0,75 kg of sugar
  • 1 litre of water
  • spirit 95%

Dissolve sugar in water, bring to a boil to make syrup, let cool. Clean the elder flowers from thicker stalks. Cut scalded lemon into slices. Pour cold syrup over the flowers and lemon. Lime juice can be added. Black elderberry with syrup should stand for 10 days in a dark room. Shake the jar several times a day, the flowers should be covered with liquid. After ten days, pour off the liquid, squeeze the flowers firmly. Measure the amount of liquid obtained and for each liter pour 0.75 liter of spirit. Set aside for 3 months to clarify. After this time, filter the liqueur, pour into bottles and leave to mature for 6 months.
