Recipe for grape liqueur with prunes

The ideal time to make nalewka is at the turn of summer and autumn when grapes and plums are ripening. You can buy these fruits for next to nothing, as they bear fruit in abundance at this time. The recipe is quite simple and you can enjoy the effects after just 4 months.

  • ½ kg dark grapes
  • ½ kg light grapes
  • ½ kg of any prunes
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 1 lemon
  • ½ kg of sugar
  • ½ l water
  • 1 l spirit 95%

Wash the fruit thoroughly. Remove stones from plums, cut grapes in half and place in a large jar. Add scalded raisins and lemon juice. Make syrup from water and sugar, which after cooling combine with spirit and pour over fruit. Maceration should last for 5 weeks. After this time pour off the liqueur, strain the fruit, filter and pour into bottles. The liqueur should keep for 3 months.

The colour of grape liqueur with plums depends on the colour of the fruit used.
